NaNoWriMo 2023

flockofcrowsThis year's goal is finishing The Fool Would Be King. I haven't touched the fic in a while because I was caught up in a plot snarl but I recently realized I just needed to cut a superfluous subplot to fix that entire mess. I only need to write about 5000 more words and edit some things to finish the story so hopefully I can cross it off my list by the end of the year.
ETA - WEEK #1: I'm on track so hopefully I'll be able to upload the next chapter of The Fool this month. I'll likely cut what was supposed to be chapter 9 in half because it's getting too long. No idea about the rest but December definitely has a lot of editing in store for me.
ETA - WEEK #2: Still on track! Writing, rewriting, and editing the next chapter is eating up a lot of words so I may end up using the majority of those 5000 words just on chapter 9.
ETA - WEEK #3: I pulled ahead this week, which is good, but the chapter just keeps getting longer and longer, which isn't ideal. I'm still planning to update the fic this month but I couldn't work on the other chapters as much as I wanted. Maybe I'll do another NaNo challenge in December?
ETA - WEEK #4: I hit my goal on the 24th, uploaded chapter 9, and I'm officially closing off the challenge with 6068 words. As usual, I have underestimated how many words I'd need because I didn't calculate in all the rewriting that goes into finishing a story. Oh, well, you live and learn. I'll continue working on The Fool in December but I'll probably finish it next year.
