NaNoWriMo 2020

Against my better judgement, I signed up for NaNo. I'll be using it to work on both The Fool Would Be King and A Bouquet of Nettles. I don't expect to reach 50k, partly because I'm a slow writer and partly because the two fics put together won't add up to 50k, especially not if I subtract what I've already written, but even if I only get 10k closer to my goal, it'll be worth it.

Update #1: Three days in and I've completed the first draft of the second chapter of ABoN. This is going much better than I expected, even though I'll need to edit it to hell and back. (I've written so many fight scenes. No one wants to read this many fight scenes.) Onto the third chapter.

Update #2: I've been editing a one-shot these past couple of days because I had to meet an exchange deadline but now that it's done, I can hopefully catch up with my other projects.

Update #3: I have a detailed, chapter-by-chapter outline for The Fool now, as well as the first draft of the next two chapters. It's rough but at least it exists (and it's longer than I expected, as usual).

Update #4: 50k line crossed! Ngl, the bulk of it is a journaling project I was doing on the side but it has done wonders for my mental health so I count that as a win. As for fics, I finished 2 one-shots (1 posted, 1 needs editing), and I have complete outlines for all chapters of both ABoN and The Fool, as well as several thousand words in each chapter. They still need a lot more work but one step at a time. I'm planning to update ABoN in December and hopefully clean up the second one-shot to post as well. I only foresee an update to The Fool after those are taken care of, though I'm really excited about what comes after the next chapter.

(I also finished my GoodReads challenge which surprised me because I fully expected to fall behind while doing NaNo.)
